AZIOT smart devices are DIY (do-it-yourself) products. We don’t offer doorstep installation, but this guide plus our product videos make it straightforward for any electrician — and our team can guide your electrician over a video call if needed.
Safety first: always switch OFF the mains/MCB before opening a switchboard. If you are not comfortable working with mains wiring, use a qualified electrician.
What you’ll connect
An AZIOT retrofit smart switch sits behind your existing switchboard and needs:
- Live (L) — incoming phase.
- Neutral (N) — required. AZIOT smart switches will not work without a neutral in the box.
- Load (L1, L2…) — one output to each appliance (light, fan, socket).
- Manual switch wires (M1, M2…) — connect to your existing manual switches so they keep working alongside the app. These are colour-coded; match them carefully.
Good to know
- Manual + app both work. After install you can operate each output from the physical switch and from the app.
- Don’t want to keep a manual switch? You can skip that channel’s manual (M) wire and still control it from the app.
- Fan speed: use the correct AZIOT fan/regulator model for fan-speed control.
- 2-way / two-location wiring is supported on specific models only — check your product page or ask us before wiring a 2-way circuit.
- For high-load appliances (geysers, ACs, motors) use a 16A-rated AZIOT node/plug, not a standard node.

Door locks
AZIOT smart door locks are also DIY. Our locks fit door thicknesses of 35–60 mm. We can guide your carpenter and, in some areas, share a third-party installer contact — just ask support.

Do the manual switches still work after installing a smart switch?
Yes. AZIOT retrofit switches keep your physical switches working — you can control each output from both the manual switch and the app. If you don’t want a manual switch on a channel, you can skip that channel’s M wire.
Can I use an AZIOT smart switch for 2-way (two-location) wiring?
Only specific models support 2-way wiring. Check the product page or contact support before wiring a 2-way circuit so you choose the right device.
