AZIOT Device Heating or Burnt? Safety Steps and Load Ratings

AZIOT Device Heating or Burnt? Safety Steps and Load Ratings

If you notice heating, a burnt smell, discolouration, or sparking — switch OFF the main MCB immediately and do not use the device. Then read below before reinstalling anything.

Most common causes

  • Exceeding the load rating. Running a high-wattage appliance on a node rated for less current causes heat. Match the appliance to the right device (see ratings below).
  • Loose or under-tightened terminals. A loose wire arcs and heats up. Every terminal must be firmly seated on a properly stripped wire.
  • Wrong device for the load — e.g. a geyser/AC/motor on a standard node instead of a 16A device.

Respect the load ratings

  • Standard smart-switch nodes are for lights, fans and small appliances.
  • For high-load appliances (geyser, AC, motor, large socket), use a 16A-rated AZIOT node or smart plug.
  • Never gang multiple heavy appliances onto one low-rated node.

If you’re unsure which device suits an appliance, ask us before wiring — it prevents damage and keeps your warranty valid.

What to do next

  1. Keep the main power OFF to that circuit.
  2. Take clear photos/video of the device and wiring.
  3. Start a warranty claim with your invoice. Our team will inspect and advise on repair or replacement.

Safety note: a burnt device is an electrical hazard — don’t attempt to open or repair it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

My AZIOT device is heating up or smells burnt — what should I do?

Switch off the main MCB to that circuit immediately and stop using the device. Take photos/video, keep your invoice, and raise a warranty claim. Don’t open or repair a burnt device yourself — it’s an electrical hazard.

Why did my smart switch burn out?

The usual causes are exceeding the node’s load rating (a high-wattage appliance on a low-rated node), or a loose terminal that arcs and heats. Use a 16A-rated device for heavy appliances and ensure every terminal is firmly tightened.

Which AZIOT device should I use for a geyser or AC?

Use a 16A-rated AZIOT node or smart plug for high-load appliances like geysers, ACs and motors — not a standard node. If unsure, contact support before wiring.

Still stuck? Our team can help. WhatsApp or call +91 88866 35918, email support@aziot.life, or use the contact page. For wiring, a quick video call is often the fastest fix.
